Uses of Microscope eye piece
- Magnification:
The eyepiece further magnifies the image of the specimen created by the objective lens. Typically, it provides an additional magnification of 10x or 15x.
- Focusing the image:
It allows the user to fine-tune the focus for clarity and sharpness, ensuring the specimen is seen in detail.
- Viewing the specimen:
The eyepiece provides the point through which the user observes the specimen, serving as the final lens in the microscope’s optical system.
- Measuring:
In some eyepieces, a reticle (measuring scale) is incorporated, which helps measure the size of structures in the specimen.
- Alignment of the optical system:
When adjusting the microscope, the eyepiece helps align the viewer’s eye with the path of light through the optical lenses to avoid eye strain and improve image quality.
